Quality Education

‘Mu Karanta’ means ‘Let’s read' in the Hausa language of Northern Nigeria. Every child has the right to read. Our Mu Karanta Hausa Big Books are designed to be used in busy classrooms in Northern Nigeria, and they are ideal for advancing children’s reading as a key ingredient of their future learning. They build on the sense of curiosity and fun that are so natural to children, and they provide a sound Hausa literacy pedagogy.  This winning formula is designed to create a solid foundation for education, so that in the higher levels of primary schools, teachers can proceed to teaching subject content through the medium of English.

MuKaranta believes that literacy is the key to social and economic development, and it helps people to reach their full potential. Quality education for both girls and boys is the focus of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4. MuKaranta is dedicated to helping achieve that goal.

“Reading is the gateway skill that makes
all other learning possible.”
– Barack Obama
